In honor of Jeanie....

You're right. I actually thought that picture might ruin a few diets. So, I have opted for a more realistic depiction of our life as a grilled cheese sandwich. Let's face it, it's not always gourmet. More like the above image. Sometimes the bread gets burned, and then subsequently waxes soggy when the precious children throw fits because they didn't want to eat grilled cheese in the first place.

Silver White Winters That Melt Into Springs....

In an effort to stay positive through my headache-children-filled day, here are a few of my favorite things!

Seeing daylight before I hear my kids awake.
Big, soft Maverick Cookies.
The logic of my 7-year-old.
The squishiness of my 2-year-old.
The hugs and kisses of my 4-year-old.
Going to dinner with my hubby without the kids.
Maverick drinks.
The absence of noise when the kids are in bed.
Jane Austen movies & books.
Maverick in general.
Laughing with my husband about anything and everything...and everyone, for that matter.
Apple Beer.
Spencer's squenchy-eyed smile and his monster face.
Mackenna's plumpy cheeks.
Emma's chocolate eyes.
My body pillow.
Pedicures and girls nights.
Blogging.
TWILIGHT!
The Closer.
American Idol.
Survivor.
THE OFFICE!
The Discovery Channel show 'The Universe'.
A clean house.
Taking the kids out to eat.
Talking with friends.
Fall and Spring.
Open-toed shoes & dressing up.
Pina Coladas & walks in the rain....

Kleptomaniac or Compulsive Liar?

Mackenna always comes up with the funniest fibs. She went on a fieldtrip to the dentist office yesterday at preschool. This morning she came downstairs with the five dollar bill that was sitting on my dresser and said, "Mom, yesterday the dentist gave me this dollar in his office." Yeah, right honey. You and the other thirteen kids in the class. Should I be worried??

Curious George

A few people now have told me that Spencer reminds them of curious george. I really didn't see it, but now I think we just might have some sort of reincarnation of the famous cartoon.

Caught purple-handed.....

This morning Mackenna informed me that last night she had a scratch on her fingernail that was bleeding, and then turned purple. I thought this was an interesting thing to say, so I looked at the finger. Yup, a smudge of purple nail polish was right there, condemning her. Next to her was a loosely-twisted bottle of purple nail polish.....highly suspect. She went for round two when she informed me in the Target parking lot that she 'threw [her] gum in the garbage at home'. I thought to myself, 'okay....whatever.' Then I remembered that she had gum at the doctor's office earlier. 'Honey, where did your gum go?' Kenna (in a small voice): "I swallowed it."

So long....farewell....

So, I probably won't be posting for a couple weeks. We are sending our computer away to get the paneling fixed, and it will be gone for a while. How am I going to survive???? Anyway, my friend Sarah came over the other night and we were doing hair. She is doing my hair for the military ball (only fitting since she did it for prom and my wedding), and this is what we came up with.

I know it's silly and girlie of me, but so fun.

I think Mackenna may just be ready for kindergarten. The last couple weeks she has been asking me to play with her, all day. Today I finally relented. We played playdough and then colored a picture together, while she whined about the fact that I still hadn't spent much time with her. Sometimes I feel like no one is happy no matter what I do.
